Garbage Collection
Garbage will be collected as follows:

  • Mondays: all of the area north of Queen Elizabeth Boulevard;
  • Tuesdays:  area south of Queen Elizabeth Boulevard and east of West Ave.;
  • Wednesdays: the area south of Queen Elizabeth Boulevard and west of West Ave as well as the new subdivision (south of Stewart Street).

NOTICES: 

  • The Town garbage pick up will be moving to back lane pick up effective May 21,2013
  • The Town will be doing an extra pick up of compostable items during the week of May 21 - May 31.  Please ensure that tree limbs are 3 ft in length or less and bundled.  Grass clippings, leaves, garden debris must be 100% compostable and can be raked in piles beside your garbage cans or bagged in clear plastic garbage bags.  Please put these beside your back alley garbage cans for ease of pickup.  No appliances or furniture will be picked up.

COMPOST MATERIAL, LEAVES, TREES

Kamsack Landfill:  NE 27-29-32-W1
The Kamsack Landfill is located 1/2 mile west along highway 5 and approximately 1 mile south of Kamsack.   The summer landfill hours are Friday and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed at lunch).   Summer hours are effective May 17, 2013.  Winter Land fill hours are Fridays from 8:30 pm to 4:30 pm. (closed at lunch).

Landfill Fees
The landfill is for the residents of Kamsack.  No cash is accepted at the landfill. You must purchase pre-paid coupons from the Town Office during regular Town Office hours.

Rates: $5 per coupon.
Minimum charge is $5.
Carload = 1 coupon;
half-ton truck = 2 coupons;
utility trailer = 2 coupons; 
1 ton truck = 3 coupons; 
2 ton truck = 4 coupons; vehicle larger than 2 tons=$50.

NOTE;  FEES FOR NON-RESIDENTS ARE $75.00 PER LOAD

The following items are accepted at no charge at the town landfill: 

  • Clean Lumber - that is, unpainted and untreated lumber.  Any metal such as nails, screws, hinges etc. must be removed prior to placing on burnable pile.  All treated or painted lumber can be included in the household garbage pile. 
  • Trees placed in burn pile
  • Grass Clippings & Leaves placed in compost area 
  • For all other, prepaid coupons must be purchased prior to delivering to landfill.  (Refer to landfill fees and rates). 

There is strict legislation in place for landfill sites. Please co-operate with the Town in its efforts to maintain these regulations and our landfill.

 PAPER & CARDBOARD:

Blue Recyle Bins:
Kamsack's Blue Recycling Bins are located throughout the community.  They are designated for either Cardboard or Newspaper recycling.  Please ensure that cardboard boxes be flattened (this includes Kleenex, cereal and juice tetra paks) and be sure all inserts, styrofoam, plastic or other packing material be removed.  Newspapers include any newsprint material, inserts, flyers, magazines, catalogues, phone books, paper (bond, typing, photocopy, white/coloured computer, shredded, or plain envelopes with plastic windows removed).

Summer hours from June 1 to September 30: Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every second Friday 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Winter hours from Oct 1 to May 31: 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Paper and cardboard  products are accepted. Paper and cardboard blue recycling bins for public use are located at Kamplex (Skating Rink) by the flags and on Lawrence Road, on the south side of Valley Manor. There are also blue bins for paper and cardboard located at Sarcan Recycling.

Household plastics grades 1 thru 7, such as plastic food containers, plastic bottles and jugs, shrink wrap, grade D film (water softer bags, cat litter bags) and grocery bags in small quantity, are now being accepted by Crown Shred and Recycling.  Plastics are to be free of food contaminants and liquids before being bagged and deposited in marked paper recycling bins found throughout town.

Kamsack Tire will accept old tires for recycling.  The disposal fees are $4/passenger; $9/semi; $15/agri and $25/OTR tires.

At the Kamsack Co-op C Store, you may recycle used cooking oil in the container located at the back of the building.  NOTE:  This does not include motor oil.
